Websites
A website you own.
Built for how people actually find a small business: on a phone, from a search or a recommendation, in a hurry.
Already have a draft from me? Here is what happens next
Already have a site, a team and a budget? Then the website is one part of the job, and the marketing page is the one to read.

Why bother
A listing gets you found. A website says why you.
Your Google listing, your Facebook page and the directories you are on all help people find you. On each of them you share the page with adverts, other businesses and whatever the platform decides to show. A website is the one place online where you decide what people read: what you do, where you do it, what it costs and how to reach you.
What you get
Four things.
The site
Every page written and built for you, from what you already publish and what you tell me. Fast, readable on a phone, and checked against the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standard rather than glanced at.
Enquiries in one place
Every enquiry lands in a private area you can sign in to, with a record of what was said and what happened next. Not an email that gets lost.
Measurement without the nonsense
A page on your own site says exactly what it measures and what it does not. No pop-up asking permission unless you choose measurement that needs it, such as advertising or detailed analytics. This site has one, because it offers detailed analytics and advertising measurement.
Hosting
I host it and keep it running for a yearly fee. Your domain stays in your name, and your enquiries are yours.
How it compares
Other ways to get a website, and where this one differs.
A site builder you do yourself
Cheap to start, and yours to build. You pay a subscription for as long as it runs, and more features usually mean a higher plan.
A WordPress site from a freelancer
A good one can be excellent. It then needs its plugins and updates kept up, by someone, for as long as it runs. If your business already runs on WordPress, I build and look after WordPress sites too.
A directory or trade listing
Good for being found. Your page sits beside your competitors’ on someone else’s site, on their terms.
This
A site written and built for you, fast on a phone, with every enquiry in one place. One fixed price for the build and a yearly fee for hosting. No monthly software rental, no per-user charge.
In their words
Small-business owners whose sites I built.
ENM Ltd created my website from scratch. The process, which I put off for years, was made much more enjoyable by Mark.
Mark did an excellent job in delivering on my design brief and building my website from scratch. He made an otherwise daunting task very straightforward, I can highly recommend!
How it starts
With a draft, not a proposal.
Look
I read what you already have: your listing, your site, your analytics and your advertising accounts if you have them, and the competitors you actually lose work to.
You get: a quick look, free: the few things that matter most, with the numbers behind them.
Draft
If a website is the answer, you see a draft homepage on a private link, built from what you already publish, with any generated picture labelled as generated. You judge it on your phone, not from a proposal.
You get: a private draft, yours to keep or bin.
Build
The whole site, on the platform this one runs on, with a place for every enquiry to land. Then it goes live on your domain.
You get: a live site on your domain, hosted by me.
What it costs
Paid for once. Hosted for a yearly fee.
The build is a fixed price for a fixed scope, agreed in writing before any work starts and paid once. Hosting is a yearly fee that covers running the site, the private enquiry area, measurement and keeping the platform current. There is no monthly software rental and no per-user charge.
Questions
The ones people ask first.
Can I edit it myself?
Yes. You can change the words and pictures on any page yourself, on the page itself, from the private area, and publish when you are ready. You can also write and publish articles there. The layout, the menu and the legal pages change through me.
What about my current site?
It stays up until the new one is ready. I point your domain at the new site when you say so; nothing goes dark in between.
Do I need to move my domain?
No. The domain stays in your name, wherever it is registered. I point it at the new site and that is all.
Is it WordPress?
Not usually. New sites I build run on a platform I built and run myself, with no plugins to keep updating. The trade-off is that you do not get a drag-and-drop page builder; you get pages that are fast and stay fast. If your business already runs on WordPress and you want to stay there, I build and look after WordPress sites too.
What happens if you disappear?
Your domain and your enquiries are yours. I host and run the site, and if you ever want it on your own hosting, or looked after by another developer, it moves with you.
Ask for a draft.
Send a link to your listing or your current site. If a website is the right answer, the next thing you see is a draft homepage on a private link. Already have one? Reply to the email it came with.
