Accessibility
Accessibility on this site.
I aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the same standard I build client sites to. This page says how this site was checked, when, and what is known to fall short.
How it was checked
- Every public page was tested with axe-core 4, an automated checker, against WCAG 2.2 levels A and AA and its best-practice rules, at desktop width (1440 pixels) and phone width (375 pixels).
- Every page was checked for sideways scrolling at 320 pixels wide.
- The keyboard focus, and the phone menu open and closed, were tried by hand.
- Every pairing of text and background colour the site uses was measured. Text reaches a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1, and coloured shapes and rules that carry meaning at least 3 to 1.
What is known to fall short
- The largest headings are drawn as outlined letters: a white fill with a black outline. A browser that cannot draw outlines shows them as solid black instead.
What has not been tested yet
- A screen reader, on any device.
- A real phone. The phone checks above were made in a desktop browser set to a phone’s size.
